Concept Sketches

Web Site Design Sketches
I have created sketches to design a home page and navigation system for my personal portfolio website. I will name my site “Digital Educator”. The purpose of my site will be to provide an arena in which I can offer, share and display services. All pages will link back to the home page through selections on the footer.
The Photoshop techniques that I am planning on using are:
·         The background for each page will have a chalkboard look with some chalk style font
·         Gradient overlay
·         Texture.
The home page may look busy but it is because I want to add drop down menus as you hover over tabs.
At this point these are the only techniques I know I will be using, the rest will come as I begin to design.

E-Card Design Sketches
The following sketches are ideas for my E-Card. I have decided on promoting; “Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce” a natural-Holiday tree.
The first set of sketches are the ones I am leaning towards using to develop my E-card.
For the first set;
·         the Front cover will be a pic of a tree farm with a message like a Holiday      greeting card (introduction)
·          the Inside will reveal the intent of the E-Card with a pic of a pine-tree seedling
·          the Back will reinforce the message with a pic of the Earth with a pine tree.
The font will have a Holiday look as well as the whole card.

The second set of sketches will probably be the ones I think I will be using for my E-Card:
·         The Front will have a pic that has a family selecting a tree and introduce message with a frame effect, with an over-all Holiday look and style font.
·         The Inside will reveal message with a frame effect too.
·         The back will reinforce the message with a hand-drawn tree filled with word that will express message of card; tree will have a blending effect of an inner glow.

Book Cover Design
I plan to use the “Big Book” design (as referred to in Designing Book Covers Hands-on Workshop) for my front cover. In the workshop the teacher reviews many famous books that have used the “Big Book” design look. I hope that the design format will make the look of my book cover eye-catching. The title will be done with hand-drawn type (just hope I can pull it off). The base color for the front cover, spine and back cover will tie in with the title of the book. I also plan on pulling in a picture of the instrument that my featured artist uses, then I will apply some design techniques to it.  This will be my first time creating a template in In-Design and developing the cover in Illustration, and then placing the full cover layout into the In-Design template to export it into a PDF, then load it to the web for view on my blog. (please note that all of this is my desired outcome). Front and back cover will be 6"W x 9"H,and the Spine 1"W x 9"H.

Awareness Poster
Summary of project concepts:
The following two sketches reflect the concept ideas for an awareness poster.
The poster will reflect the awareness needed to provide a bully-free environment.
My thought for this poster is to produce a positive message, one that will be proactive.
Title: "Reach Out and Take a Hand" (I changed the title since I took the photos of my sketches. I thought hand would sound more positive than stand).
Design Elements: Hands reaching out will be filled in with proactive words, ones that will help to provide a "bully-free" environment.
Title will be on the top right side of poster.
Mission statement will be on the bottom in a smaller font that will be typed on what looks like a chalkboard and the type will look as thought it was written in chalk. I chose to do the font this way to reflect that I am doing this poster for the school environment.
