Mod05 E-Card Design

The following is my E-Card designed for ESC course. I am promoting; “Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce” a natural-Holiday tree.

The whole card has a Holiday look to it.

Techniques used:

·         The Front is a picture of my son, daughter and I taken a few years back when we had the pleasure of cutting down our Holiday tree. Because the picture was taken a while back it need a few adjustments such as; curves, color balance, vibrance and hue. The tree was cut using the marquee tool and made into a layer with the following effects applied; color overlay, outer glow and an inner shadow. I also made a couple of frame looking layers with the fill command and adding layer masks. Of course text is added to introduce the E-Card’s message.

·         The Middle was designed by developing layers; one with text, and one with a tree made out of the recycle logo that I found at www. 123rf.com. The text on the middle is very important because it explains the meaning of the card. www.Earth.911.com is a real website where a person can find directions to a participating local recycling center. The tree layer has a few effects such as outer and inner glow.

·         The Back (you know I can’t resist “Text” it must be my new-found trade mark). I use the line tool to form the tree and then formed a new layer, applied the fill command and added a layer mask. The Text in the tree was manipulated in many ways such as; transform, font size, kerning, tracking, setting the anti-aliasing method, as well as the font style. The text font used on the top and bottom of the page was found on www.dafont.com listed under Christmas style fonts.  I add UPC symbol by first going to www. barcoding.com/upc/ and using their UPC Generator. I then turned it into a layer on Photoshop to use on my card.

I also used In-Design to develop a template for the card, then placed the .psd files (front, middle, and back) created in Photoshop into it. I then exported the .ind file into a .jpg to open in Photoshop to make it safe to upload to the web.
